What is Steemjammer?  It’s an Amazon “hot new release” and a top-ten bestseller in an Amazon top-100 category!

Steemjammer is a Young Adult novel series, and the first two books are finished.  Book 1, Steemjammer, Through the Verltgaat, is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com.  Today, Dec. 27, 2014, the book became a “hot new release” at Amazon.  Then, my sister called to tell me it had cracked a top 100 bestseller list on Amazon (kid’s steampunk).  Then, she called back to say Steemjammer was on a second top 100 bestseller list (another steampunk one), and it was all the way to #17 on the kid’s steampunk list.  I got to a computer and watched it go to #14, #11, and then #10!

About the Author:

I’d been writing screenplays, TV pilots and other related stuff for many years when I realized I’d been treating my children like the proverbial shoemaker. In that old story, the shoemaker was so sick of making shoes all day that he never made any for his own children, making them go barefoot. I realized I’d never written anything for my children, so I loosely patterned the three main characters after my daughters and son – and started writing in one our family’s favorite genres: steam.

Steam:

I say steam and not steampunk, even though Steemjammer could be considered steampunk. The word “punk” in steampunk has always thrown me off, because it probably came from cyberpunk. Punk fit that genre, but something about the word “punk” and stuff set in a world of steam just doesn’t match up in my head. Well, it doesn’t really matter to me which genre classification you prefer, steam or steampunk. Steemjammer is an attempt to have a lot of fun in a world of steam.  All necessary steam attributes are present (goggles, boilers and so on), and I’ve tried to add fresh and innovative elements.  I hope you’ll enjoy it.
